Setup Guide for QWKNet (Synchronet Systems) - 08/07/19

This guide is to be used by sysops who choose to receive SciNet via
Synchronet's built in QWKNet network transfer as opposed to using FTN style
technology. You must pick one or the other; FTN or QWKNet, not both.

QWK access to SciNet is managed by the SciNet QWK Coordinator, Dan Richter.
Please forward your QWK applications for SciNet to Dan at
dan[at]castlerockbbs.com

1. We need to set your Sychronet system with your BBSID. In scfg go to
Message Options -> BBS ID for QWK Packets and set it to the BBSID that was
assigned to you by the SciNet Coordinator.

2. Now that you have your QWK settings done, you will have to import
scisubs.txt file into your Sychronet system. You do this by going into
scfg -> Message Areas and create a new Message Group called SciNet. Next
we are going to import the scisubs.txt message group list by choosing
    Import Areas -> SUBS.TXT.

3. You might want to change the QWK Tagline for each area located in the
    Networking Options of each sub.

4. Now we need to setup the SciNet QWK <-> FTN Gateway as a QWK Hub. In
scfg go into the Networks menu and choose QWK Packet Networks. Choose
Network Hubs and create a new QWK Network Hub and call it CRBBSNET. Make
sure the settings for the CRBBSNET hub match the following. Remember to
replace YOURPASS with the password that was supplied to you by the SciNet
    QWK Coordinator.

    Hub System ID CRBBSNET
    Pack Command Line %@zip -jD %f %s
    Unpack Command Line %@unzip -Coj %f %s -d %g
    Call-out Command Line *qnet-ftp %s bbs.castlerockbbs.com YOURPASS
    Call-out Node 1
    Call-out Days All
    Call-out Frequency 24 times a day

5. Next you are going to link in the SciNet message areas. While still in
the QWK Hub settings menu for the CRBBSNET choose Networked Sub-boards.
You will have to go through all of the message areas in the SciNet Message
Group and set the Conference Number on Hub for each area to match the
    following:

    SciNet: nix chat 7701
    SciNet: Art Scene 7702
    SciNet: BBS Ads 7703
    SciNet: BBS Modding 7704
    SciNet: BBS Software 7705
    SciNet: Fantasy Chat 7706
    SciNet: Gaming 7707
    SciNet: General Chatter 7708
    SciNet: Mystic BBS Support 7709
    SciNet: OS Discussions 7710
    SciNet: Programming 7711
    SciNet: Retro Gaming 7712
    SciNet: Sci-Fi Chat 7713
    SciNet: Stats 7714
    SciNet: Sysop's Only Echo 7715
    SciNet: Warez Chat 7716

Once you have everything setup, post a message in the Sysop's Only Echo to
make sure that the connection is up and running. You should start to see mail
flow in and out after about an hour.
