Seven witnesses stepped out on the front porch and observed a strange
light very high and going very fast in the sky. They saw a triangular
shaped craft which they said appeared to be flying on its side. They
actually saw the triangular shape facing them as it went by. The
triangle had say 120 degrees on the wide angle and then 230 degrees.
It was flying very smooth. They said it had the smoothness of a balloon,
low on the horizon. It disappeared after going across the sky in
about 10 seconds. In that time it did about a 40 degree arc. It
was a white light with very tiny white lights all over the triangle
shape. Was moving from northwest to southwest toward area called
South Mountain. There was no wind at all. If they put their arms
out the object was about 2 1/2 thumbs width size. They said the lights
on it did not seem to be projecting out from it but almost looked
like window lights, like lights coming from within. All witnesses
    were college graduates and professionals.

One witness, a driver for a messenger service, was driving down highway
53 south bound and looked up because he thought he saw something that
looked like a helicopter and then realized it wasn't a helicopter
and thought it was a balloon because it looked kind of floating.
People were pulled over to the side of the road. He pulled over and
couldn't talk to the other people as they were on the other side of
the express way. Everyone was looking at the object. He said it was
shaped like a horseshoe, the legs were thicker than the top of the
horseshoe and it was round side up and had like a little nob at the
top. He said it was two or three times larger than a helicopter would
be. Floating up in the clouds it seemed like it was slowly rotating
around. He said it seemed like it was behaving like a balloon. When
it was facing the sun it had a reddish color. It seemed like it was
in tatters from on leg. Then for about two or three minutes there
was a group of smaller objects, about 25-30 objects, flying around
the larger object. The smaller objects were the thickness of the
legs or larger, about 5-6 feet across. About 1/2 width of thumb.
When the object got closer to him it was harder to distinguish the
shape of the large object and easier for smaller objects. He drove
about 4 minutes away and looked back again and it was gone. He called
Addison police three days later and a women dispatcher answered and
he asked if there had been any reports of anyone seeing anything going
along highway 53 on September 12, 1986 around noon or so and she sounded
very excited and asked him to hold on a minute. While waiting he
heard a mans on the line saying switch him over to number such and
such. At this point he felt paranoid. Then she came back on the
phone and asked him to continue on so he asked again if anybody had
seen anything and she said no they hadn't. He said in that case never
    mind and hung up.

Near Winchester, Virginia two witnesses were driving along highway
671 and they spotted two white bright lights, very large, very bright,
in the distance. Witness stopped the truck to watch them. When the
truck stopped the lights started to move. They approached the truck
and stopped directly overhead. Witness looked up and could see a big
circular object with colored lights. The object remained stationary
for several minutes at an altitude of about 200 yards with no sound.
The object was described as being very big. The witness driving decided
it was no place to be and took off driving at speeds up to 80 and
90 mph and the object had no problem keeping up with them. The object
was slightly to the drivers side and after about five minutes the
object swerved to the right, passed directly over the truck and sped
    away.

John Williams of KIRO television called CUFON - UFO Information Service
with a report that he had received from a witness near Burien, WA.
The witness reported seeing some kind of object in the southern sky
coming at him with smoke coming out the back of it and appeared to
break apart. There was one light and it then broke off in like 4-5
different off shoots with smoke on each one. The witness and his
mom with several others said it appeared to be a parachute that went
right over their heads, but it was moving very very quickly. The
metal object with a parachute on it went over their heads and the
other off shoot pieces went in different directions. What appeared
to be a parachute the witness did not think was as it went over his
head very very fast. John Williams also stated that after receiving
the report he called the Sea-Tac duty officer at FAA and he said that
it could have been in cloud lightning because there were no military
aircraft in the area at that time.

CUFON - UFO Information Service then called the witness to get his
direct report. The witness stated that he was over at his parents
when he saw a bright light coming out of the south. He thought it
was one of the lights from a jet coming into the airport at first
as they are right by the airport, but realized it couldn't be because
the Sea-Tac Burien airport would be farther to the east. Then his
mom came out and he pointed it out and her description of it was the
best, she described it as a sparkler where you are looking at the
center of it with smoke coming off it. As the bright light started
dimming you could still see the smoke. It seemed to break up and
he lost track of all the other pieces save one. It looked as if they
had flown off it. The one big piece came sailing out and it looked
like a parachute with something on the end of it heading from south
to north slightly northeast over their heads at what seemed like an
incredible velocity. It looked, shape wise, like a parachute. The
fact that it seemed to be going so fast made him think it had to be
some kind of space craft or something. He never saw it descend, it
just shot across the sky. Observation was 30-45 seconds.

One witness reported seeing over her street, LaSalle, an object that
the nose of it looked like a boomerang with a pyramid bottom. It
was a very windy and particularly clear night and when she looked
to the north she saw a formation coming towards her and her first
impression was that it was a flock of birds and then as it got closer
it looked like a formation of stars. They had a luminous glow to
them and they didn't look like head lamps or anything like that.
As it came closer she noticed there were more lights going across
the bottom of it like a stingray - solid at least underneath and she
could not see through it. As it came towards her the lights shut
off in the center and only the outline was left on. Stayed there
for about 5-7 minutes watching. As it came over her it went further
up in the sky and it was weird as no light in the belly of it but
she could see a formation of it and what it looked like but it kept
fading in and out. The lights in the front of the object stayed on,
no noise. The object was much larger than any plane she has ever
seen from wing to wing. A boomerang has very wide angles from one
end to the other as the object did also, and the nose of the object
    was not sharp.

REDONDO BEACH - Andy Hoyt admits he has no proof - not anymore, at
least - that he witnessed the crash of an aircraft that may be the
    Pentagon's most carefully guarded secret.

His sister, Lisa, and her 16-year-old son, Joey, reportedly also saw
the plane, but both declined to discuss the alleged incident. Hoyt,
an unemployed Redondo Beach carpenter, says he snapped photographs
of the plane as it plummeted to the ground in the Sequoia National
    Forest near Bakersfield.

But the photographs were given to the Air Force, Hoyt says, and the
    Air Force isn't talking.

Defense experts, however, say Hoyt's description of what he claims
he saw that night fits the most educated guesses of the configuration
of the top secret F-19 stealth fighter - a plane the Air Force will
    not confirm even exists.

In a scenario that sounds like a science fiction movie, Hoyt says
he and two relatives saw something drop out of the sky and explode
into flames on the other side of a hill about a half-mile away.

"It seemed like it was something other than an airplane, said Hoyt,
26, who was on a camping trip. "Believe it or not, I thought it was
    a UFO."

Whatever it was, he says, the military has been treating him royally
since he called Edwards Air Force Base when he returned home the following Sunday evening and told the Air Force about the photographs.

Hoyt says he and his party were driving east on state Highway 178
about 15 miles northeast of Bakersfiled in the early morning hours
of July 12 when they pulled over for a brief rest. He was just climbing
back into his truck when he saw it.

"All I saw were three red lights and a dark image behind them like
an upside-down triangle." Hoyt said, adding that each light was at
a point of the triangle. He said he pulled a camera from the dashboard
of the truck and managed to take two or three pictures before the
    plane disappeared over the hill.

Then, a pair of explosions "lit up the sky like it was daylight out."

Contrary to published reports on the day of the accident, Hoyt says,
the aircraft did not explode before it crashed. At least one Air
Force source has been quoted as saying plane exploded in midair, which
could explain why the pilot, who was killed, was not able to eject
    safetly.

"It was definitely not on fire when it came down," Hoyt said. "Why
    couldn't the guy eject?"

After making sure the blaze was reported on an emergency roadside
phone, the party continued to its campground north of nearby Lake
    Isabella.

His call to Edwards upon returning home brought a sudden response
from the Air Force, Hoyt says. "They took my name and number and
within an hour someone had flown down here and talked to me," he said.

"They didn't press me, but they wanted to see the film in my camera."

The next day, the Air Force officers took Hoyt, his sister and nephew
to Hawthorne Municpal Airport, where they flew them to a command post
a few miles from the crash site, he says. The visitors were treated
to lunch, then driven back up the mountain road where Hoyt said he
    saw the crash.

"They wanted to know what the angle was when it came down," he said.
"They used some tool to measure something after we pointed at the
    spot."

After developing the film in Hoyt's camera, he says, the Air Force
returned two sets of enlarged prints of the family camping trip -
minus the frames that could have shown the descending aircraft.

An Air Force officer who interviewed Hoyt and his relatives asked
them not to talk to anyone about what they saw, "but said he couldn't
    force me," he said.

The Air Force will confirm only that a plane crashed, killing its
pilot. It refuses to divulge what kind of aircraft, the base from
which it took off or its mission.

Military guards armed with M-16 rifles have sealed off a large area
    around the crash site.

Back home in Redondo Beach, Hoyt says he feels a bit bewildered by
all the attention his claims have brought.

Grandview residents were among several people who reported seeing
unidentified flying objects on Thursday morning and Sunday evening.

On Thursday, a Wapato policeman was the first to spot a UFO, about
4 a.m. The object travelled slowly, and was last seen near Prosser
about 6 a.m. It was described as large and changed colors. Although
small in the night sky, it was larger than a star or planet.

An object brighter than a planet was spotted over the Rattlesnake Hills,
north of Grandview, on Sunday evening about 10:30 p.m. It changed
colors rapidly. A witness described it as alternating red and green,
and a ray of light seemed to be coming out the bottom.

RAAF has no plans to seek car-sized UFO

An unidentified flying object much bigger then a family car" is lying
at the bottom of Encounter Bay Victor Harbor, after plummeting to
earth soon after midday on Saturday.

The object, unofficially logged as a meteorite by the RAAF base at
Edinburgh, was seen by dozens of people from as far south as post
MacDonnell in the South-East and south-Western Victoria.

Senior Constable G.A. Clemow, of Beachport, said he and several other
Beachport people had seen a large, smoke-colored vapor trail left by
the object as it speed past at cloud height.

The trail had taken more then five minutes to begin dispersing. Sen
Const Clemow said a thornleigh farmer Mr.Neil Sutherland, had told
him the object looked like a rocket, with a propeller-like device
at the rear, fins and a fair bit of red paint.

Mr.Sutherland had described the fast-moving tube as much bigger then
    a family car.

Beachport resident Mr Gary Chambers said he had seen the object for
only a few seconds as it came down. It looked like a falling star,
but in broad daylight, Mr Chambers said it was very high up I thought
it burned up above the horizon.

Mr George Thorn, of Victor Harbor said his wife had seen the object
falling towards the sea. Moments later, though binoculars, he had
seen what he thought at the time to be a very large red and white
boat bobbing up and down in the heavy swell, about five kilometres
offshore. It had sunk monents later and three boats found nothing.

Police and RAAF Officials said they knew of no plans to look for the
object, lying in at least 20 fathoms of water. A department spokesman
in Adelaide said no RAAF Hercules had reported anything and there
was no sighting on any radar screens. He said the department would
investigate but he knew only what had been reported. He said he was
curious about a witness who described the object as looking like a
    "cruise missile."

What does a cruise missile look like? I work in defence I've never
seen one, he said as for the chance that the object was an extraerrestrial
that not show up on radar, the spokesman said with a chuckle: "There's
a possibility it could be anything, if in fact there is something,
but at the moment we know nothing."

Saw one gigantic 150 meter long floating object:

It was on monday evening, April 17, that Mr. Karl Axelsson from Brunflo
had his most remarkable experience of his life. When Mr.Axelsson was
driving his mother-in-law home, they observed a strange light phenomenon
    in the hazy evening.

Mr. Axelsson returned later to the sighting location with his binoculars.
What he saw was so sensational that he is still really upset when
    he retells the story.

Right over one hill, Sheepskin hill, was a gigantic floating object,
about 150 meters long. The whole object was divided into sections
and looked like a lighted cement block. At the top of the object were
two searchlights rotating like a lighthouse.

He observed the object for seven hours. During this time he made many interesting observations. At 21:45 was the regular lin-flight from
Stocholm to Froson-Ostersund airport. Right before the plane appeared,
the object seemed to pump ogt steam and when the plane passed, it
    was coated in a cloud.

On two further occasions, aircraft were passing, but at this time
the light was closed, so as not to be discovered. At one time during
the remarkable observation, Mr.Axelsson, was really scared. He said:
"Both rotating searchlights swept in an enormous arc. When the strong
light was near me, I was quite blinded. Once one of the searchlights
beamed against me and my car. It was a frightening feeling.

The cone of light was formed as an endless corridor. Inside the corridor,
one was not blinded, but became aware of a strong, squared shining
light. Mr.Axelsson, then jumped out of his car and ran home, and telephone
two of his workmates. One of them, Mr.Hakan Forslund, also engeged
in the UFO studies, said: "When we went up to the sighting area, the
object had changed its position and was now floating over the Lockne
sea. I can agree with Mr.Axelsson, description. One of the things
I noticed was that the searchlight beam from the object was much
stronger then the foglight from the Lockne factory.

During the observation time, the object changed position four times.

( During one occasion, two small objects left the larger one. One
of them circled over Grytans range.)

We were at most five who observed the object at the same time. I know
others who saw the object, but they don't like to tell anything about
the sighting. From that evening on, there were other reports of a
similar sighting of the object in about the same location.

A Bournemouth man is trying to confirm his UFO sighting at West Howe.

Mr. Peter Charman was out walking his dogs in Paddington Grove late
at night when his gaze was drawn by a strange light in the sky.

"It was moving slowly but I couldn't see any definite outline -like
a sparkler that kept going on and off," he said. "It was my first
    UFO sighting."

"It lasted for about two or three minutes and was flying at 2,000-3,000
feet," added Mr. Charman, a coach driver who lives in the Grove.

But he's not claiming the mystery night-flyer was an extra-terrestrial starship.

"It was an unidentified flying object - UFO is not necessarily synonymous
with spaceships," he explained. "So I don't think I'll be carrying
any little green men on my coach!"

He is appealing for anyone who saw the incident, on Tuesday (June 17)
at 11 p.m., to contact him on Bournemouth 575875.

Hurn Airport had no reports of sightings on that date, they said.

READING pensioner Peter Littlewood is convinced he saw an unidentified
flying object hovering above the town yesterday. Mr. Littlewood, aged
62, is so sure the jumbo jet-sized object was a UFO he wants to get
in touch with experts and have his sighting recorded.

He said: "I was driving up Peppard Road when I noticed an object in
the sky, in between the two rows of lime trees.

"It was stationary and remained in the air until the leaves of the
trees obscured it from my view.

"I parked in Moss Close and scanned the sky but all I could see was
a thin vapour trail which I think came from an aeroplane.

"I am positive it was not a hot air baloon or an airship. It was
silver colored, shaped like a hamburger.

The hills of the Squamish Valley are alive--with something.

Weird, UFO-like lights have been sighted at least three times dancing
around the Stawamus Chief mountain. And a fiery crash was also sighted
    near Whistler's Blackcomb Mountain.

Late Saturday, more than a dozen wide-eyed watchers were treated to
a cliffside spectacular around Stawamus Chief.

"There were two bright lights right on the face of the Chief," said
    Fred Bevilacqua, 38.

"One shot down really fast and disappeared. Another turned and turned
up into the sky until you couldn't see it anymore."

Squamish carpenter Ken Granger was also blinded by the lights.

"There was one large amber light in the sky. A smaller light came
down onto the Chief. But then it started going up diagonally across
the side. It went around the corner and disappeared."

On June 27, several residents of Squamish's Valley-cliff area saw
two small lights and a large light travelling very fast in a northeast direction.

And June 13, Greg Stoddard and Sam James of Whistler saw what looked
like a meteor crashing behind *ûBlackcomb Mountain.

"It was a small spherical fireball that glowed white in the centre
rimmed by blue and trailing a smoky white trail," said Stoddard.

The numerous sightings have been reported to RCMP, who have passed
it on to authorities in Ottawa.

Buenos Aires, March 24, 1986 (EEE)-Scared Argentine farmers from the
area of Corrientes province pordering with paraguay, claimed to have
"talked" with the occupants of a "Flying Saucer" that landed there,
it was reported today in Buenos Aires.

One of them, Rito Melgarejo, told the Telam news agency that he saw
how the "UFO descended and biinded him with its strong lights." Two
of its occupant came out, they looked like small Martians. They spoke
to me in a language I didn't understand, and signalled me, said the
    frightened worker.

I told them I couldn't understand them and went away. When I turned
around they were gone, said Melgarejo, in an account that was corroborated
    by other local residents.

Confessing he still has the headache he got since he spoke with the
occupants four days ago, he described them as small, wearing black,
tight fitting clothes. Telam said that strange traces were found
at the spot, such as burned grass in a 6 meter circle, and the remains
of an eel that had not decomposed.

SPECTACULAR EVENT TRANSMITTED DIRECTLY BY A RADIO STATION - UFO FLEET
    LANDED IN FRONT OF WITNESSES

Cordoba, Argentina, March 13 (AFP) - Four UFOs landed in the early
hours of this morning in a hilly area of Cordoba province, and many
witnesses are on the spot watching the phenomenon, which is being
transmitted directly by a local radio station.

The UFOs "have a big white light on one side and a red one on the
other side," said the reporter who went to the landing place. The
Cordoba radio station (located 710 kilometers to the north of Buenoa
Aires) interrupted its program at 03.10 GMT to transmit the news and
describe "enormous saucers with intense red and white lights that
    came out of its windows."

A few minutes later a direct transmission was made from the La Cruz
hill, which is located some 5 kilometers from the Uritorco hill (160
kilometers NW of Cordoba) where the UFOs landed.

A reporter said that one of the objects "took off and approached the
place where the group of observers was, scaring us a bit." He also
added that the craft remained "motionless for several hours." The
transmission continued at 11.15 GMT and the reporter said that a group
formed by several UFO fans, three photographers and a nurse were
    accompanying him.

IT CROSSED THE FIELD AT AN ALTITUDE OF LESS THAN 30 METERS - A UFO
PARADED IN FRONT OF 200 PEOPLE WHO WERE WATCHING A FOOTBALL GAME

Lima, March 13 (AFP) - The sudden appearance of a UFO last night stopped
a football game that was being played in a stadium of the Peruvian city
of Talara, 1,070 kilometers north of lima, according to reports received
    today.

The strange ship few over the field at an altitude of less than 30
meters above the ground, and was seen by some 200 people in the "Petroperu" stadium. "We could clearly see that strong red and green light beams
were coming out of its front. It also irradiated a yellow light that
turned into day the area it few over," said Donaldo Duque, referee
of the game that was being played between the local teams Alamo and
    Casa Gin.

The UFOs appeared around 8.05 PM on Wednesday night. According to
some witnesses, the phenomenon lasted no more than 10 seconds.

This appearance is added to the report that four "flying saucers"
landed Wednesday morning in a hilly area of Cordoba province, in Argentina,
an event that was witnessed by many people. The spectacular landing
was transmitted directly by a radio station from Cordoba, whose reporters
went there after being alerted by the local residents.

The transmission described the ships as "enormous saucers with intense
red and white lights coming out of its windows."

The reporter describing the spectacular event added that one of the
objects took off and approached the place where the observers were,
scaring them. Then UFOs remained motionless for several hours.

A UFO resembling a Zeppelin has been spotted over the Westcountry.
The phenomenon was seen by a barbecue party in North Devon.

Mr. John Garnsey, a local magistrate, said: "It was most weird. I
thought it might be a plane, but it made no noise. We watched it for
over 10 minutes drifting across the sky.

"It seemed to discharge a rocket from it then disappeared across the
    horizon."

Seventeen witnesses at the party watched the UFO - and Mr. Garnsey insisted: "We hadn't been drinking!"

His wife Jennifer said: "It was traveling slowly across the sky. All
of a sudden another bright light like a rocket flashed from it.

"It was completely silent. We thought it might be an aircraft or

The British UFO Research Association is to investigate the sighting
last night of a motionless flashing object in Scunthorpe's northern
skies. It was spotted just after midnight at about 15 degrees above
the horizon. Observers in Messingham said it was flashing approximately
once every second and remained in the same place for around 10 minutes
before slowly moving off to the east.

Today, the national secretary of BUFORA, Mr. Les Sallis, based in
Hull, said he would investigate the sighting. Checks with other
organizations, such as the RAF, might reveal the cause of the flashing
light, but it was too early to say. A sighting over Winterton two
months ago turned out to be a weather balloon.

Anyone in the area who spotted the mysterious flashing light should
contact the Scunthorpe Evening Telegraph on 843421.

Fourteen-year-old Kingsley Wiggin claims to have sighted an unidentified
flying object hovering over Skipton's Rockwood estate earlier this

Kingsley, who lives in the town's West Bank Road, says he was on his
morning newspaper round, when he saw an object which glowed very brightly: "about two seconds rather like a very bright star."

He says the shape of the object was unclear, but he is sure that it
was not an aeroplane: "or anything else I could think of."

Kingsley saw the object at about 7:35 a.m. on September 4, but when
he later returned with his father, the object had disappeared.

A village near Daventry has been singled out by six eye witnesses
as the focal point for the town's extraordinary UFO mystery.

They all claim to have seen unexplained objects heading towards Preston
Capes - or hovering over the village itself.

The mystery began a fortnight ago when two fishermen saw six UFOs
early one morning over the Daventry County Park. The objects disappeared
in the direction of Preston Capes.

A week later, company director Pauline Dunn and husand Stanley claim
they saw brilliant lights in the sky from their Staverton home. Again,
the objects were going towards Preston Capes.

This week, retired couple Daphne and Edward Underhill say they saw
what appeared to be a huge, glowing UFO in the sky in the area of
    Preston Capes.

They believe it could have been a spaceship.

"We were getting ready to go to bed when my husband called me over
to look out of the bedroom window," says Mrs. Underhill, of Central
    Avenue, Woodford Halse.

"We saw a great big object in the sky which had an orange or red look
about it. It was fairly high and we stood there for about 20 minutes
    looking at it," she adds.

"Part of it broke off from the rest and went across the sky in the
direction of Preston Capes. It was circular, but the part which came
away was jagged," adds Mrs. Underhill.

She says it was definitely not an aeroplane because it was moving too
fast.she says it disappeared for a while but returned several minutes
    later.

"I have no idea what it was. People say about these things, but if
you talk about them, they think you are queer," adds Mrs. Underhill.

"My husband didn't believe in UFOs until he saw this and was absolutely astonished. It makes you think - seeing is believing.

"If anybody else had told me they'd seen something, I wouldn't have
believe them. But when you have seen it yourself, it makes you realize,"
adds Mrs. Underhill, who says her sighting was around the same time
    as that of the fisherman.

Territory Authorities are baffled by last night's sighting in three
different centres of a mystery object in the Top End sky.

Humpty Doo residents, Rick and Moya Trippe, were driving home along
the Stuart Highway about 10:20 pm when they noticed an object with
a flaming orange tail moving towards the ground at a 45 degree angle.

A short time later Groote Eylandt and Roper River police reported
sightings of a mystery light over the Katherine region.

To add to the intrigue, Katherine's power supply suddenly cut out
late last night and there were reported disruptions to phone lines
    in the town.

The hour long disruption was reported to have been caused by an earthing problem.

The weather bureau and Aviation Department can give no explanation.

There were no scheduled flights over the area and the bureau reported
    no unusual weather phenomenon.

A BARNSLEY man is recovering after a close encounter with a flying
    saucer!

Mr. Joh Brook fled in fright after the UFO turned a blinding white
fluorescent type beam on him. Mr. Brook, of Berby Street, Barnsley,
felt a tingling sensation throughout his body for the few seconds
he was transfixed by the light coming from beneath the oval shaped,
    60 feet wide object.

He has spoken for the first time this week about the experience which
left him ashen-faced. The UFO was hovering at a height of about 50
feet in the night sky somewhere in the direction of the Co-op Dairy
in Summer Lane. The object had flashing red and purple lights on
    its side.

Mr. Brook, an unemployed technical illustrator, said the close encounter
took place at about 10:50 p.m. on a recent Friday.

He told the Chronicle: "I was on my way home from the pub when I saw
the object in the sky. From where I was standing, it looked as though
it was spinning on it axis. Suddenly, this bright white light with
a fluorescent tint shone down on me. I had to close my eyes, it was
    so bright.

"I felt this tingling sensation all over and through my body and the
hairs on the back of my neck stood on end.

"I just turned and ran as fast as I could towards home. I know that
people will suggest that either I was drunk or just another nutter
but I had only drunk about three pints that night because I am unemployed
and that was all I could afford."

When Mr. Brook got home, he and his wife Josephine watched the UFO
from their garden before it disappeared. Mrs. Brook said: "When John
got home he was out of breath and his face was as white as a sheet.
I have known him for about six years and I have never seen him so
    frightened."

This was the third time that Mr. Brook has had an encounter with a
UFO. His first sighting was in the early 1970s and the second, which
took place last year while he was with his neighbour, Mr. Richard
Shirt, was reported to the Royal Air Force.

A Forest Row woman still can not believe her eyes after sighting what
she can only describe as a UFO.

Last Thursday evening just after midnight Mrs. Penny Crowder was leaving
Ursula and Tom Scratchly's house in Post Horn Lane, Forest Row. Before
getting into her car Mrs. Crowder looked up at the clear night sky
and saw a glowing orange ball with a pale orange aura surrounding
it move across the sky from west over the Royal Ashdown golf course.

Thinking she might be imagining things she called out to her friend
Penny and they walked up the lane to get a better view. The two women
were so astounded that they asked Penny's husband Tom to confirm what
    they were seeing.

"It was a fiery colour and looked as though it was lit up in some
way." said Mrs. Crowder. "We were just incredulous, you couldn't relate
it to anything because you had never seen anything like it," she said.

The three stood watching the UFO for about ten minutes as it progressed noiselessly to the east and out of sight.

Looking for a rational explana-tion for what they had witnessed, they telephoned flight control at Gatwick. Gatwick said nothing had showed
up on radar but asked them to file a detailed description and a diagram.

They considered all the other possibilities, a hot air balloon, a satellite, but none of these fitted the description of what they had seen. They
sat and talked until three in the morning about the strange fiery object.

"It gave you an eery feeling as it came straight towards you" said Mrs. Crowder, who has never before spent time puzzling over the arguments
for and against the existence of UFOs. "When you started thinking
about it you got a bit frightened," she said,"I had the spooks all
    a the way home."

Mrs. Crowder is not the first to be "spooked" by ball-shaped objects
flying over the Ashdown Forest. In the late 1970s a spate of sightings
over the forest exactly match the description of what Mrs. Crowder
and the Scratchlys saw last Thursday evening.

In April 1978 local police launched a search of the area after a Nutley
woman saw what she called a "ball of fire" hurtle past her window.
She then saw bits break off the object and fall directly on to the
Forest. At least six people in the Forest witnessed it, and on that
night firemen were called to put out fires in two areas of the forest.

News in Focus would be interested to hear from anyone else who saw
    the Thursday night fireball.

CHILE: UFO BLOWS ROOFS OFF SIX HOUSES

Santiago, Chile (EFE) -- A UFO in the form of a blue cloud "sucked
up" the roofs of six homes in a neighborhood of the South Zone of
Santiago in the early morning hours last Sunday.

The rest of the roofs, chimnies, and electrical cables remained
scattered in turn, to each of the houses.

The neighbors, according to an acount that was published today in
the newspaper, THE THIRD, said that at 2 a.m. on Sunday, they felt
as if there was a very strong wind, or an earthquake. At the same
time, everything lit up in a bright blue for 30 seconds.

"It was a force that threw everything up," declared Patricia de Salvo,
one of those affected in their home by the strange phenomenon.

The Weather Bureau added that it (the phenomenon) could not be considered
as a tornado, neither a hurricane, because these phenomena affect
    entire cities.

The neighbors Juan Lagos and Enrique Ceron described the phenomenon
as a "blue cloud" that passed over, leaving this devastating effect
to the roofs of their houses and their clarified it (the blue cloud)
    as an apparent "UFO."

LADIES GOING HOME FROM BINGO SAW "SPACESHIP" NEAR YSANE VILLAGE

"None of us has seen anything like that before. We were very upset
and it was difficult to sleep that night."

It is Dagny Stonsebro from Solvesborg telling the story. On Thursday
evening, she and four girl friends were on the way home from a bingo
    evening in Karlshamn.

Near Ysane, they observed a shining light in the heavens. At a distance,
it looked like a big star. But it changed form when it came nearer.
"We felt observed and pursued. It was quite unpleasant," said Mrs.
Stonesebro. The time was some minutes after 10:30 when the ladies
first observed the phenomenon. It passed very quickly through the
sky, went back and circled around.

"The object was orange and the color glowed. The body was oval-shaped
and appeared to be of metal. When we approached the BP gas station,
I estimate that the object was about 100 meters away and perhaps 50
meters high. It disappeared then behind the trees. But later, it
was observed in the village of Falkvik and was described as elongated,
    said Dagny Stonsebro.

"One of my girlfriends could observe the object right to the village
of Mjallby, about 5 kilometers away, where she lives. I don't know
what it was, she said, but it was absolutely not an airplane."

From the airfield F13 in Kallinge weather station, they suspected
it could be from the big NATO manuever outside Denmark. Perhaps
    some shining light.
